Mind Over Mayhem

When the world and your to-do list threaten to overwhelm you, take control with these do anywhere tricks.
Engage both halves of your brain (improves performance)
- cross your arms over your body giving yourself a hug
- this confuses your brain, which is actually a good thing because it forces it to wake up and pay attention thus improving your brain power.
- make sure to cross the arms over the opposite arm to really shake up the noggin
Calm your brain (helps with focus, concentration, anxiety, fear)
- place one hand on your belly and one hand on your heart.
- breathe deeply enough to move your hand on your belly outward
- exhale deeply enough so your hand comes back in.
- focus on the movement of your hand on your belly and how your other hand is warmed by your heart
Align your thoughts to positivity (great when you are stuck in traffic)
- think of the best kiss you’ve ever had – really visualize it, feel it
- hold this thought in your head
- you can’t think about something positive and negative at the same time so choose carefully
Ahhh…now, isn’t that better?

Aloha Jodi,
You are so right on this one! I used to be a dominate “left brained” person, then when I was in my home based business, I was taught to use my “right brain”. Then I started to switch back and forth and found that to be so effective!
Leading with your “right brain” and connecting is the best way! I love the “hugging yourself” and confusing your brain!!
Thank you for a great post!
Aloha,

Short and to the point! Nice job Jodi, and the only thing that would have made the experience better for me is if I had thought of it first.

Hey Jodi, great post you got here. Reminds me of the good ol’ stop and count to ten thing my momma used to tell me when I was just a young lad all the time.

Wow! Jodi Lee, This post is powerful and straight to the point! Mentor Mama needed a hug and who better to give it to her than herself!
It really did calm and focus me!

How did you know that I was feeling overwhelmed by my to do list? Thank you so much for the great tips. I love the suggestion to think about the best kiss you have ever had when you need to think of something positive. Do you think it is ok to do the first one at the same time as the last one?

Jodie,
I love the simple calming exercises you list here. Makes so much sense to slow down and listen to your body. There are times to reconnect your head, heart and soul.
Great tips!
