Why you don’t want to be happy

Why do you want more happiness and more importantly, why haven’t you gone and gotten it?
First, let’s understand the idea of being happy. You don’t want to be happy.
Huh?
That’s right. If you are happy, you have arrived at the destination and the ride is over. If you are happy, you are done. If you are happy, you will only ever be this way. There is no room for other.
Huh?
You actually want to be happIER. Happiness is not a destination, it’s a journey – I’m sure you’ve received a hallmark card or 2 of that nature, but it’s true. You can always become more happy than you are and slide along the happiness continuum. That’s the key. It’s a sliding scale and you want to move yourself along in the positive direction.
How?
Let’s consider your happiness list from the last post. If you haven’t done that yet, click here for directions.
Now consider for a minute where you might be on that happiness continuum. Reflect on where you were 5 years ago, where you are now, and mostly importantly, where you’d like to be.
Where did that happy feeling go?
Fortunately, it doesn’t matter. The key is you can get it back. And better still, you can propel yourself forward along that sliding scale to gain and sustain a higher happiness level.
